Ceramics
The simple act of holding a piece of clay takes me back to my childhood when I could be found digging pink clay, placing it on a board or rock on the beach, and creating whatever my mind saw in that simple ball of clay, fresh from the earth. My inspiration comes from the simple details of the world around. All of the leaves are actual imprints, so when you view the leaves you see every distinct detail. No two are alike. If you look closely, you may see a place where a bug has laid its eggs or taken a little nibble out of the leaf as an afternoon snack. I have attempted to create artwork that is not only distinctive in appearance but also practical in usage. Some are being used as centerpieces for the dining room table, serving dishes for special gatherings, and Christmas ornaments. A piece was also commissioned to be used as a baptismal bowl. Please enjoy.
